St. Louis Work Zones for Sep. 25 – Oct. 1

I-44 from Kingshighway to Jefferson Closed This Weekend

ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading downtown should avoid I-44 in the city of St. Louis as crews will close a section of the interstate this weekend.

Crews will close all lanes and ramps on I-44 in both directions between Kingshighway and Jefferson, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, September 26.  In addition, the ramps from northbound I-55, Lafayette, and Jefferson to westbound I-44 and the ramps from Vandeventer and Grand to eastbound I-44 will close.

All interstate lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, September 29.  To avoid the closure, drivers should use I-55 or I-64 to get to locations in St. Louis City.  The detour around the closure will include Kingshighway, I-64 and Jefferson.

During the closure, crews will be removing the bridge deck on the Compton Bridge over the interstate. When the interstate reopens, Compton will remain closed between Lafayette and Russell, but local traffic will be able to get to their residences.

Compton Avenue over I-44 will reopen to traffic by December 15, 2014. While the bridge is closed, traffic can use Grand or Nebraska to detour around the Compton Avenue closure. The project will be complete by summer 2015.

MoDOT will close up to two lanes in both directions on the Route 141 bridge over the Meramec River this weekend.

Also, crews will close one lane of Route 141 in both directions at the river around the clock starting at 10 p.m. Friday, September 26.

All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

During the lane closure, crews will be completing preventative maintenance on the Route 141 bridge over the Meramec River.

Work on this project will continue until late October.

For additional work zone information, go to http://traveler.modot.org/map.  For real time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com.  All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather.
