St. Louis Work Zones for August 25-31

ST. LOUIS – This week, several road and ramp closures will impact local drivers.

Starting tonight, crews will close the ramp from northbound I-170 to westbound I-70 around the clock until August 31. Crews will be replacing bridge joints during the closure.

Drivers heading downtown this weekend to events like the Cardinals home stand against the Athletics or the Festival of Nations should avoid I-44 and use Metrolink, I-70, I-64 or I-55 to get into St. Louis.

Crews will close all lanes of I-44 between Jefferson and Vandeventer starting at 7 p.m. Friday, August 26.  In addition, the ramp from Vandeventer to eastbound I-44 and the ramps from northbound I-55, Lafayette and Jefferson to westbound I-44 will close at 7 p.m. August 26.

Drivers may use Vandeventer, Chouteau and Jefferson to detour around the closure, but should consider using alternate interstate routes to avoid delays. They may also want to allow themselves extra time to get to their destination.

To get to the Festival of Nations during the closure:

  • From I-55, exit at Arsenal and follow Arsenal to the festival.
  • From I-64, exit at Kingshighway, take Kingshighway to Shaw, turn left on Shaw and turn right on Tower Grove
  • From eastbound I-44, exit at Vandeventer, turn right, turn left on Shaw and turn right on Tower Grove
  • From westbound I-44, exit at Jefferson, turn left, turn right on Gravois and turn right on Arsenal.

Grand will close in both directions starting at 7 p.m. Friday, August 26.  Southbound Grand will be closed to through traffic at Lafayette/westbound I-44. Northbound Grand will be closed to through traffic at the eastbound I-44 ramps. Northbound drivers will be able to access eastbound I-44, except for a short period Saturday as crews adjust striping and signals. Drivers should use Gravois as an alternate.

All interstate lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, August 29.

All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather. For additional work zone information and real-time roadway weather conditions, go to http://traveler.modot.org/map.  For real time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com
