Right of Way Work Permit Process

Step 1: Before performing work on MoDOT's right of way, you must receive an issued permit for work. To request a right of way work permit, please submit an online request.

Once you receive an issued permit for work to be performed on the right of way, there are several steps that must be accomplished before you begin work.

Step 2: Request a Missouri One Call locate for existing utilities at 800-DIG-RITE (800-344-7483)

Step 3: Complete the online “Notice of Intent” form to work on the right of way.

Step 4: If your work requires a lane closure, you must submit a request a minimum of two working days in advance and receive authorization from MoDOT staff before closing any lanes of traffic. This request is included on the “Notice of Intent” form.

Step 5: You must keep a copy of the permit and approved plans on the job site at all times.

Step 6: Contact the traffic specialist a minimum of 48 hours prior to beginning work and for all necessary inspections.
