Transportation Commission adds Route 36 four-lane to five-year plan

At its monthly meeting today in Maryville, the Missouri Highways and Transportation

Commission officially added the Route 36 four-lane project to the state’s five-year program. Commissioners also praised Tom Boland, a former chairman of the commission, for his leadership on the US 36/I-72 Transportation Corporation.

The Commission stated completing this corridor across the state is important for northern Missouri, and that it will enhance the value of the rest of the four-lane highway. While in Maryville, which is located in the northwest corner of the state, the Commission heard from area businesses and residents the importance of the four lanes to their economic vitality and transportation in general.

“We are committed to meeting our promised completion date of the four-lane highway by the end of 2010,” said MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Kirk Juranas. “We look forward to working with area residents to build a facility that will improve safety and help spur economic development,” he continued.
