During the 2011 Missouri Legislative session, a bill was proposed to update the regulations that govern the intrastate movement of household goods.
Although House Bill 430 was vetoed, the requirements for household goods carriers remain likely to change by legislative or judicial means. Another attempt might be summoned for next legislative season. In the meantime, the lawsuit challenging the legality of Missouri’s regulations continues making its way through the state court system.
Change is coming. Members of the household goods industry stepped up to help shape the new form household goods law will take and, no doubt, will continue to share ideas and opinions with MoDOT, with the Missouri Movers Association and with legislators.
