HARRISONVILLE – Bridge demolition will close both north and southbound lanes of I-49 at Route 291 while crews remove the old Route 291 Bridge in Harrisonville beginning Friday night, Jan. 8 until 10 a.m. Sunday morning, Jan. 10. All interstate traffic will be diverted around the closure using the Route 291 exit ramps.
Crews replaced the Route 291 Bridge with a diverging diamond interchange and twin bridges south of the existing structure late last year.
In addition to the I-49 closure, Route 291 will close between Cantrell Street and Commercial Street. Traffic will bypass this closure using the I-49 and Route 2 interchange.
The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey warning signs and use caution when driving through work zones.
