Motor Carrier Services Expands Hours
The department’s latest effort to improve customer service is aimed at expanding its hours in its Motor Carrier Services Division. MCS in Jefferson City will adopt a change in business hours starting in July and will be open 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Most MoDOT offices are open from 7:30-4. New Hours

Let the “Fun Shine” at the Missouri State Fair
The 2006 Missouri State Fair's theme is “Let the Fun Shine.” The fair is in Sedalia, and runs Aug. 10-20. The department will have many new exhibits this year at the MoDOT Highway Gardens, including the Seatbelt Convincer, a traffic crash simulator designed to convince Missourians to buckle up. Our Interstates at 50: A Missouri Celebration
Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our nation’s interstate system. We’ll mark the event by celebrating the first contract awarded at the site of the first interstate project, located at Interstate 70 and Fifth Street in St. Charles. A special sign unveiling will be held at 10 a.m. on June 28 at the Heart of St. Charles Banquet and Conference Center, 1410 S. Fifth St., St. Charles. I-70 Guard Cable “Virtually Eliminates” Crossover Crashes
Median guard cables are now in place along Interstate 70 across Missouri, and a MoDOT study shows the barriers prevented vehicles from crossing the I-70 median 94 percent of the time in 2005. The three-strand, low-tension median guard cable is designed to “catch” a vehicle before it crosses into the opposing traffic lanes, bringing it to a stop before it collides with other vehicles. MoDOT Marks Completion of Guard Cable Installation on I-70
MoDOT Director Pete Rahn held a news conference June 12 to mark the completion of median guard cable installation on the Interstate 70 corridor. The final stretch of this median barrier was installed in Cooper County near the city of Blackwater, bringing a total of 179 miles of median guard cable along I-70 at a cost of $20.5 million.
