MoDOT Minute Inspections of Minneapolis-Style Bridges Complete; All Are Safe Thorough inspections of Missouri bridges similar in design to the Minneapolis bridge that collapsed two months ago are complete, and all are confirmed to be safe to cross. Bridges Testing Soy Stripes MoDOT is testing four types of yellow and white soy-based paint that contain varying amounts of soybean oil to see how they work for highway striping. Missouri had the largest drop in traffic-related fatalities in 2006 of any state in the nation -- down by 161 compared to 2005. MoDOT Director Pete Rahn credited the entire Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety and all its partners.
Triple the Effort to Make Teens and Seatbelts Click Law enforcement agencies across Missouri are looking for teens who aren't buckled up Oct. 8-21 as part of a special effort to encourage seat belt use among young people. Teens MoDOT Director Pete Rahn recently was elected president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. In this capacity he will focus on three key elements of the nation's future transportation infrastructure: investment, accountability and safety. The electronic plans room will allow anyone to view, print or download highway plans for free. Even the general public now has access to project plans by visiting http://modot.indoxservices.com/. Job applicants can check out a new option to submit applications online. This new feature allows applicants to apply for advertised positions directly and update their information at any time.
